Breakfast, Brunch and Dinner at Brigitte and Arsen's Bounce Back Cafe (Part One)

Welcome to the Bounce Back Cafe.

Today Paret Match reporters are on special mission to Grosse Point Farms , Michigan, home of the internationally reknowned Bounce Back Cafe. Like Lourdes in southern France, this humble bed and breakfast style cafe sitting unannounced on one of the Points' many identical backstreets has become known to the general public as the home of a few modern day miracles!

First of all, despite Michigan's cold, northerly climate, plants grow here...

...sometimes with the density of jungle flora...

...In the beneficial atmosphere, tomatoes have also been known to attempt spontaneous andropomorphus...

(the above picture comes to you thanks to Ghulf Genes.)

The miraculous climate of the Bounce Back became apparent to Brigitte Darnay, proud owner of the Cafe, when one day way back in November '09 she bounced back from...

...a smiling but admittedly ailling septuagarian to...

...Miss Brigitte!

(Brigitte is the cool French pronunciation for Brigitte...)

As you can see in this picture, Brigitte is once again in the bloom of health; she's spry, lively and no longer needs reading glasses! Even the couch she reclines upon seems new and lusterous!

How did it happen, you're wondering?

"It's all in a word," she says "and that word is cafe!" (Cafe is the cool French name for coffee, by the way.). "Here at the Bounce Back we use only specially purified water in precisely measured amounts to make our cafe, and we never call it coffee! Naming things is essential, you know." The brewing is done by Brigitte's husband, Arsen...

...Here, Arsen is resting after brewing a batch of cafe. The highly specified, well-oiled process is rather tiring and the couple is currently trying - unsuccessfully as yet - to pass down their secret recipe to their two middle-aged daughters in order to get a small rest from the wearisome brewing procedure.

"Our very own girls are no longer true believers" moaned Arsen as if citing Kroll, a character from the Ibsen play Rosmersholm...

(Above picture thanks to La Colline - theatre national, where a production of Rosmersholm is currently running.)

But somehow we got off track here. That happens to Paret Match reporters sometimes especially when they are working under the highly volitile influence of the Bounce Back cafe. Sorry.

Yes, Arsen has a darker, more nordic pessimism than his beautiful wife Brigitte. Although he does do the actual brewing, Arsen only truely swears by reading. Like Jorge Luiz Borges once said "Life is interesting, but I prefer reading."

Here's Brigitte expectantly watching over one of the Bounce Back's brunch guests as she tastes the miraculous brew...

But if you want to see how this lovely lady bounced back, you'll have to tune in to Part Two!
